Summer Reading
It's a fact!
Kids who read
four or more books over the summer fare better on
reading-comprehension tests in the fall than
their peers who read one or no books over the
summer.*

1.
Your
students will be coming home with five book slips to
document their summer reading. Please have them read
two books from their grade-level reading list and three of
their choice. When they return in the fall, they can
submit these for an ice cream or soda and be entered in a
drawing for additional prizes—all of which will be awarded
on Friday, August 21. We are thrilled if your student
will read more than five books—just stop by the office to
pick up additional book slips.
2.
Reading
lists with information about the summer library program were
sent with your student’s report card. The library will
be open from 9:30 – 12:30 June 22 – 26 and July 20 – 24.
