DECA

DECA is the youth organization for all of the marketing programs at FHS.   Members apply marketing principals learned in class while developing leadership skills and being active in the community.  DECA sponsors the Prom Fashion Show and the Senior T-shirt sale.  Members also manage the school store and participate in DECA competitive events and conferences on the regional, state, and national level.  Possible field trip to NYC yearly.

French Honor Society

Members must be in the fourth semester or more of French.  Members must hold an "A" average in their French classes, hold a "B" average overall, and intend to continue to enroll in French at FHS. New members are initiated in the spring. Activities are given a point value and members must acquire 75% of all points  possible to be considered active and eligible to receive the French cord at graduation.

Future Teachers of America

The purpose of FTA is to inspire interest in the process of education. Any student interested in a career in the field of education in any school setting (not just those interested in teaching) is welcome to join.  Activities include coordinating a book drive for Vanderbilt's Children's Hospitaland hosting a teacher's appreciation luncheon.  Monthly meetings will be held where a variety of education-based topics will be presented and discussed.

The German Club fosters appreciation for German language and culture through monthly meetings and participation in National German Week.  Students do not need to be enrolled in German class or any foreign language class to join. Habitat for Humanity

This organization works in conjunction with the Williamson County branch of Habitat for Humanity and student groups at other area schools to raise awareness of the need for affordable housing.  Open to any interested FHS student, his group raises funds through various activities such as the "Mr. FHS Pageant", the Habitrot, and the "Knock & Deliver" campaign.  In addition to assisting with the Habitat build each spring (member students only) students will help provide food for the construction crew.  Members may also participate in the devotional marking the beginning of the build and the dedication ceremony at the conclusion of the construction.

This student led organization develops future leaders for the health care delivery system.  Members interact with the community via various activities such as raising awareness of certain medical conditions and co-sponsoring blood drives in conjunction with the Red Cross.  Members have the opportunity to interact with students from other schools and compete in skills events and tests over topics such as first aid, CPR, medical math and terminology, etc.

Interact Club

Students with a sincere interest in helping others are encouraged to join the Interact Club, the high school arm of Rotary International.  Activities include conducting food drives,  supporting Monroe Harding Children's Home and Vanderbilt Hospital, providing  meals and entertainment gifts to FHS students with medical issues, and helping to provide Christmas gifts to in-need FHS students.

Literary Arts Club

A collection of original, previously unpublished literary art works authored or created by FHS students, the Literary Arts Magazine publishes a variety of literary art forms, including short stories, poetry, art work, photographs, and other original literary works.  The magazine is produced by FHS students and sold to all students in the spring. Any FHS student may submit materials, subject to criteria provided to FHS teachers.  Submissions must be  unpublished, original work products by the  student.

Mock Trial

This organization is the state student chapter of National Mock Trial.  This competitive event is held in the spring of each year with preparations beginning the previous fall.  Utilizing materials provided by the state association and with the assistance of a community member of the bar, student participants prepare to argue the case in a courtroom setting.  Investigation, determination of strategy, and numerous rehearsals are an integral part of participation.  During the competition, the presiding judge is an actual courtroom judge and the scorekeepers are actual attorneys.

Science Olympiad

Science Olympiad is an academic competition team made up of 15 students, freshman to senior. Students compete in pairs in up to three events of their choosing.  Each year 20+ events are offered from chemistry lab, circuit lab, to water quality and robotics. Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica

This student chapter of the National Spanish Society promotes awareness and interest in Spanish studies. Members are alcohol and drug free students with a mentality of peace who want to serve as leaders to their peers.  Members are expected to display positive attitudes, be willing to help keep FHS safe and drug free, and refer peers who have problems that negatively impact their academic achievement and classroom learning to the STARS Student Assistance Specialist. Members work with the Student Assistant Specialist on prevention related activities. Members also collaborate with other FHS clubs to assist FHS families in need via community service projects.
