School History
Trinity Elementary has a long and rich history in Williamson County. The first charter was granted in 1883 for the Trinity Academy. It met in the Trinity Methodist Church. Twice, the church was hit by tornadoes, and twice the church members rebuilt. The third location for Trinity school, on Wilson Pike, was built in 1947. In the beginning, it served children in grades 1-12, then 1-8, and finally K-5. The fourth location for Trinity School is at its present location on Murfreesboro Road. This building was built in 1990, an additional wing was added in 1994, another in 1999, and the final wing in August 2008.

Trinity is recognized as a model for educational excellence by producing citizens who are literate, self-confident, creative and responsible. Our program is enhanced by strong parental support and involvement. Parental support reflects effective communication of school goals and objectives. Students and staff are aware of and appreciate the vital role that parents play in the total program at Trinity.

Before/After School Care
Before and after school care is provided by SACC (School-aged Child Care) for our school aged students.

Parent/Teacher Conferences

Formal parent conferences are arrange for all parents each fall.  Parents may request additional conferences with their teacher at any time.  Through progress reports, phone call, e-mail, and various other forms of communication, parents are kept up-to-date on their child’s performance.

Parent Support Organization
An active PTO supports the art, music, physical education, reading, library, and guidance programs, technology, and numerous other classroom needs.  Trinity teachers strive to meet the individual needs of their students through the use of differentiation, guided reading, and multiple assessments, such as AIMSWEB and Thinklink.  Our PTO helped us create a Book Room that provides teachers with access to multiple copies of leveled books to be used in guided reading lessons. They have also helped tremendously with adding up-to-date technology in the classrooms, such as ELMO document projectors and Promethean boards. All classrooms have LCD projectors.  The computer lab is outfitted with twenty-eight student workstations with adjustable flat screen monitors.

Special Programs
In addition to the K-5 classroom curriculum, Trinity offers specialized opportunities for all.  We sponsor a fourth and fifth grade chorus program that meets with our music teacher before school.  Student Counsel is made up of students in third through fifth grade. All students are encouraged to join and participate in the Trinity Walking Club as a way to promote healthy living. Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops meet in our building weekly. Athletics are supported through East Williamson Athletics and Williamson County Parks and Recreation.

Library/Media Center

Trinity Library is a place for the school community to gather, to learn and to explore interests.  It is much more than books.  It is a learning hub with a full range of print and electronic resources which support student achievement. All K thru 4 students will visit the library during their Special time. They will focus on library skills and technology skills while in library class.  Fifth grades will have 15-20 minute visits weekly. Students may also go to the library during free open check-out times.

Guidance

Larry Gann and Lauren Siegel serve as Trinity’s two Guidance Counselors.  The counseling program at Trinity is available to help students, parents, and teachers to develop positive learning experiences.  The program consists of a variety of services and activities including individual and group counseling, parent and teacher consultation, classroom guidance, information services, referral assistance to other programs and in the community, and student testing.

Special Education Services

Student Support Services provide for the special education needs of students at Trinity Elementary in the areas of Reading, Language Arts, and Math. Content areas such as Social Studies and Science are covered in the inclusive setting when needed.
Support services include direct teaching in a small group setting, inclusive, shared teaching within the general education classroom, and consultation services.  Assistance is also provided to the classroom teacher in order to make adaptations and modifications to assist in meeting the individual needs of our students.  In the inclusive setting, students benefit from team teaching in the general education classroom as well as modifications and adaptations within the general curriculum. Students receive direct assistance outside their general education classroom when needed. The direct, small-group setting provides students the opportunity to receive instruction on an individualized basis within the general curriculum or through alternative materials.

Fine Arts

We believe strongly that the fine arts provide learning opportunities that help develop our students into well-rounded individuals.  At Trinity we offer Physical Education to all students along with art and music.

Partnerships
Trinity Elementary strongly believes in partnerships between businesses and the school. Each of these organizations assists in keeping our school an enjoyable place to learn by donating time, contributions, gifts and even professional development for our faculty and staff.

Site Based Management

Site-based management is a process for effective change to meet the needs of students and the community.  At Trinity, parents, faculty, and staff serve on various school improvement committees working to improve education for all students.
