School History
Lipscomb was one of the first schools in this area and was founded in the late 1860s by William Lipscomb as a boarding school. Williamson County School System took over in the early 1920s. There were 34 students and one teacher. The building burned and was replaced in 1959. In 1992 a new building was constructed on the same site. There are two trees over two hundred years old on the property.

Special Programs
DARE is a special program(Drug Abuse Resistance Education) for fifth grade. We also have a Citizenship Program that rewards responsible behavior, a 4-H Program, Girl and Boy Scouts, YMCA Fun Company, before and after school care, a Gifted and Talented program, a Science Fair bi-annually, an active PTO that is involved and supportive,  a closed circuit television show produced by students with teacher assistance, Art for grades K-5, Music for grades K-5, Physical Education twice a week for grades K-5, and computer keyboarding for grades 1-4.

Library/Media Center
Students attend library classes bi-weekly (average), but are welcome for book check out or research any time. The library media center administers the Accelerated Reader program and has over 3000 tests on the computer. All classrooms are networked and can access the library catalog, Internet, email, and numerous additional programs.

 
Guidance
Lipscomb has a full time counselor who meets with students bi-weekly (average) and with individuals and small groups as needed.

Fine Arts
Art instruction, Music and Choral Music, Dance Performance Group.

We strongly believe in partnerships between businesses and school. Each of these organizations assists in keeping our school an enjoyable place to learn by donating time, contributions, gifts and even professional development for our faculty and staff.
