Williamson County Schools is a K-12
school district with more than
30,700 students enrolled for the
2009-2010 school year. There
are 37 school sites: eight high
schools, seven middle schools, 21
elementary schools, and one K- 8
school.

All high schools have Advanced Placement (AP)
Programs with 24 different
courses offered.

Nineteen Williamson County students have been
named as National Merit
Scholarship Semi-Finalists for
the
2009-2010 school year.

During the 2008-2009 school year, Williamson
County students continued to
earn achievement scores that
ranked among the highest in the
State of Tennessee.

The American College Test is a graduation
requirement.
Our countywide score of
22.8 exceeds the national
average of 21.1 and the state
average of 20.6.

A pre-kindergarten
program is in place at nine
elementary schools, College
Grove Elementary, Crockett
Elementary, Fairview Elementary,
Bethesda Elementary, Heritage
Elementary, Hillsboro School,
Longview Elementary, Nolensville
Elementary and Westwood
Elementary.
This program is designed
to prepare at-risk children for
a more successful entry into
kindergarten.

K-12 student attendance for 2008-2009 was 95.9
percent.
That rate surpasses the
Tennessee Department of
Education goal of 93 percent.

2009-2010 countywide student/teacher ratios:
kindergarten through grade three
– 19.90:1; grades four through
five – 20.83:1; grades six
through eight – 19.42:1; high
school – 20.9:1

During 2008-2009 the students in Williamson County
Schools achieved a 93.8 percent
promotion rate.

The schools and the central office are accredited
by the Southern Association of
Colleges and Schools.

Franklin High School was named as the state’s
first International
Baccalaureate school.
Implementation of the
program began during the
2000-2001 school year.

The Middle College High School opened with the
1998-1999 school year.
Approximately 160
students are enrolled at MCHS
during the 2009-2010 school
year.

Over the past five years, our school district has
grown by an average of 1400
students each year.

There are 2291 certificated and 1741 support
personnel in the Williamson
County School District.

Of the professional employees, 55 percent have
attained an educational level of
a Master's Degree or higher;
four percent have a PhD or Ed.D.;
and seven percent have an ED.S.
The average teacher base
salary is $46,142.

There are before and/or
after school child care programs
in all elementary schools.

Projected expenditures for the 2009-10 General
Purpose school fund budget are
$212,741,782.

Per pupil expenditure for 2007-08 was $7,756
excluding construction and major
capital projects, as reflected
by the State Report Card.

202 buses transport approximately 18,000 students
a day traveling more than 16,470
miles each day, equaling almost
2.9 million miles each year.

All School Board and County
Commission meetings are broadcast
live and replayed the next day.
The School Board meets the third
Monday of the month beginning at
6:30 p.m., and the County Commission
meets the second Monday of the month
beginning at 7 p.m. Other
